THE LITERARY FESTIVAL – MAIL AND GUARDIAN

The Mail and Guardian Literary Festival is an annual festival. Now in its third year, this is the first time the festival has partnered with Arts Alive Festival. The Literary Festival runs from 28 August to 4 September. And features The Youngsters (a fresh, entertaining series of pocket books that feature prominent South African voices such as: Anele Mdoda,Danny K, Khaya Dlanga, Nik Rabinowitz, Shaka Sisulu); a poetry night with (Breyten Breytenback, Rustum Kozain, Oswald Mtshali and Dan Wylie). Also included in the line up is a session on political satire chaired by Sandile Memela, and has panellists such as Glenda Daniels, Zapiro, Diane Victor, Sifiso Yalo.

The focus of this discussion is on the role that art can play in envisioning a city’s future and in participating in its transformation.
